Class Descriptions
Pop Star High School Musical and Camp Rock inspired a generation of kids to sing and dance. This 55 min class combines dance and voice. The style of dance and music is similar to Camp Rock & High School Musical I, II & III. Classes are grouped according to age: Pop Star Juniors: ages 5- 6, Pop Star I: Ages 6 - 9, Pop Star II: Ages 9 - 12. Pop Star I/II mixes ages 6 -12. These are entry level classes. No prior experience in dance or voice is required. Dancers usually enroll in Ballet and Broadway Bound too.
Broadway Bound Broadway Bound is a great class for singers and dancers who are looking for something beyond High School Musical. A combination of dance, voice and theatre, the class focuses on choreography, songs and scenes from Broadway musicals. There are 2 levels: Broadway Bound II ages 9 -12 and Broadway Bound Teens. These are entry level classes. No prior experience in dance or voice is required.
Little Ballet & Tiny Dancers Our preschool dance programs are divided by age; (2) (3-4) (4-5) & (5-6). Little Ballet classes are ballet based classes. The teacher guides the student to learn in a way that makes discovering movement, balance and listening skills easy and fun. By the end of the year the students will memorize simple exercises and sequences, and learn vocabulary that will prepare them for classes taken in the years to come. Tiny Dancers is a music and creative movement class for 2 year olds!
Ballet Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance. Ballet develops grace, flexibility, balance, alignment, and strength. Ballet combines the enjoyment of movement, expression and sensitivity to music along with discipline. It is also a basis for gymnastics and skating. Ballet I (6-9) and Ballet II (9 -12) are our entry level classes usually taken for 1-2 years. Ballet II (6-9) and Ballet II (9 -12) students take 1-2 times a week.
Hip Hop This is one of the most popular classes in the school. Students will learn the latest new dance moves. Hip Hop allows a student to move freely and funky. This class will enhance a dancer's energy and enthusiasm for dance. The focus is on building the basics including counting music, memorization of sequences, choreography and exploring rhythm through the use of the body. Hip Hop I (6-9), Hip Hop II (9-12), and Hip Hop Teen are our entry level classes usually taken 1-2 years.
Dance Company Any student interested in experiencing dance competition may register for our Dance Company like a regular class. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday evenings & Saturday afternoons beginning in October and run until June. Reserve your spot at the front desk for our Dance Team and you will be invited to an informational meeting. Jazz and Hip Hop groups of all ages (6- 17) will be formed.
Performance Skills This is a fun class for students who want to get more serious about dancing and developing their abilities. The class is more technically challenging than our usual dance classes. Students will learn longer dance combinations, work on their technique and understand more complex movements. Dancers will learn more advanced dance techniques including: Leaps • Turns • Jumps • Intricate Choreography Not for everyone - Because Dance Company member are required to enroll in this class, there will only be 2 or 3 openings for students who are not in Company.
